Available at all resort lakes except Swim Lake and Tranquility Lake (which surrounds the Hospitality House and Hilltop Restaurant). Bass are catch-and-release only. Blue Gill Pond, located next to “The Stables,” provides an ideal fishing spot for children with parental supervision. Bait and limited fishing supplies can be purchased at The Store in the Hospitality House.

Big Cypress Trail starts off the main entrance road and meanders for one and a half-miles through a dense forest of ancient cypress trees along Sycamore Lake ending up at the entrance road to the Artesian Lakes’ second-home community. Big Thicket Trail also starts off our main entrance road but cuts across the forest and over a canal. Then continues for 2 and a half miles toward the Equestrian Center and around Lake Helena. Tranquility Park, the wooded area across from the swimming pool is especially designated for this purpose with tables, its own island, and a flowing Artesian water well, but there are many wonderful spots throughout the property. Hilltop Restaurant offers delicious picnic basket lunches* with advanced reservations.

Walking on our gravel roads leads to many interesting experiences. Enter the woods across from The Stables in search of the locomotive stranded on an island, explore the old camping area (but beware of Frisbees), or follow the easier hiking trails located within the resort gates (marked on your map).
The Hilltop Deck is an ideal place to watch our giant and ancient alligators turtles. A wide variety of wildlife, including alligators, squirrels, raccoons, possum, deer, rabbits, turtles and a wide variety of birds are highly visible at most locations. Night time and dawn are ideal for spotting armadillos, possum, fireflies, and owls….and to listen to frog concerts!
