Bike Riding*

Enjoy the fun of riding on gravel roads or on miles of hiking trails. Two bikes are included, complimentary, with each log cabin.


Campfires with S'mores*

Available for groups of 15 or more with advance registration at the Front Desk.


Canoeing*

Enjoy 300 plus acres of endless exploration.  Available through an independent onsite concessionaire, “The Stables” - (936) 334-5471. Rentals include oars and life-vests. Please consult the Front Desk about lake water levels and navigation before renting this equipment.


Cooking Classes*

Available for groups of 20 or more with advanced reservations at (832) 397-4008


Disc Golf

Nine-hole disc golf course located across the road from the Log Suites past the volleyball net. Sign up for discs, score cards and instructions at the Front Desk.


Fishing

Available at all resort lakes except Swim Lake and Tranquility Lake (which surrounds the Hospitality House and Hilltop Restaurant). Bass are catch-and-release only.  Blue Gill Pond, located next to “The Stables,” provides an ideal fishing spot for children with parental supervision. Bait and limited fishing supplies can be purchased at The Store in the Hospitality House.


Guided Horseback Riding*

Available through an independent onsite concessionaire, “The Stables.” Please call (936) 334-5471 for reservations. They accept only cash.


Fitness Room

Located across from the Swimming Pool. Guests must be 18 years or older or MUST be accompanied by an adult. The door entry code is provided in your Welcome page.


Games and Books

A lending library of magazines, books and games is available at the Hospitality House.


Garden Tours*

Available for groups of 20 or more with advanced registration at the Front Desk.


Hiking

Big Cypress Trail starts off the main entrance road and meanders for one and a half-miles through a dense forest of ancient cypress trees along Sycamore Lake ending up at the entrance road to the Artesian Lakes’ second-home community. Big Thicket Trail also starts off our main entrance road but cuts across the forest and over a canal. Then continues for 2 and a half miles toward the Equestrian Center and around Lake Helena.  View our walk-about map.


Horseshoe Pits

Located near Blue Gill Pond and the Swim Lake.


Picnics

Tranquility Park, the wooded area across from the swimming pool is especially designated for this purpose with tables, its own island, and a flowing Artesian water well, but there are many wonderful spots throughout the property. Hilltop Restaurant offers delicious picnic basket lunches* with advanced reservations.


Playground Equipment

Located near Swim Lake and Blue Gill Pond.


Swimming

Modern swimming pool with waterfalls, kiddy wading area, and 12-person hot tub. Also features a bathhouse, foot shower, sunning areas, and rooftop picnic area. Pool towels are provided at the Front Desk.

Star Gazing

Don’t miss out on this underrated activity unique to the countryside. Take a walk beyond
the resort’s lights, spread a blanket on the grass and marvel at the show.


Volleyball

Nets are located near Blue Gill Pond, Swim Lake and across from the Log Suites.


Walking

Walking on our gravel roads leads to many interesting experiences. Enter the woods across from The Stables in search of the locomotive stranded on an island, explore the old camping area (but beware of Frisbees), or follow the easier hiking trails located within the resort gates (marked on your map).


Wildlife

The Hilltop Deck is an ideal place to watch our giant and ancient alligators turtles.  A wide variety of wildlife, including alligators, squirrels, raccoons, possum, deer, rabbits, turtles and a wide variety of birds are highly visible at most locations. Night time and dawn are ideal for spotting armadillos, possum, fireflies, and owls….and to listen to frog concerts!
